Grounding

I used to teach a class in grounding. There were a number of practices we used but the first one was getting in touch with your anger. We beat pillows and screamed into them–shouting all the burdens we carried and what we were mad about in our lives.

There is a secret problem with getting grounded. A place of calm centered consciousness takes time and practice. Yoga and meditation help, but you and only you are the solution. It is a matter of personal responsibility.

Letting go is very hard when your core values and thinking are not valued or appreciated. Many of us have not been given the best support system for growing up.

However, there is only one person left in the room after you are finally having a moment to yourself to breathe. That is you.

Being present to our own reality is a challenge.

It is true that meditation enhances intuition and decision-making but it never make your problems go away. It just feels like that when you are meditating on a good day or have altered the biochemistry of your mind. Truth be told there will be a lot of bad days in between, and all you can do is train yourself to think a little more calmly every day.

It is one of the most important things I have learned to do.

You find the path to your when you understand life is full of what you love and like. I like ice cream, but I don’t eat it because I have to be kind to my digestive system.

If you learn to be more aware and responsive to what is actually happening now, you will learn how to get back to your calm and centered place.

Inside your mind you might find the next step to take. Truthfully I get lost inside my mind more often that I want to admit, but when my heart is full of anger and guilt this goal is harder to get to.

…,a walk, a talk with trusted advisors, or just shutting my door if I need some space if preferable to telling your friend or partner what you don’t like about them.

If you are lucky, you might end up with a flexible mind and body.

If you focus on it, you might find the mobility of mind, body, and soul aids you to get the next step: whether it is breakfast, a new job, or jumping over your personal obstacles.

If you can get back to the intention you made and carry around inside you, you might make better choices.

Once we accept that all people made good and bad choices, you will be more forgiving of your accidents and foibles. The whole and totally of you ise wonderfully and very humanly imperfect. Expect that, and learn from your life experinces.

So

The best thing you can do for yourself and your yoga practice is accept yourself wholeheartedly, and work from there. Don’t try too hard to be perfect, but find yourself inside your breath, muscles, and bones.
