I don’t have a perfect solution. I have a story.

I am old and fat, and happy.
I have wasted a lot of my life on trying to lose weight.
I finally decided that the weight I was was OK.
I eaten healthy all my life, I exercised every day not to lose weight, but to feel energetic and stron. Recently I stopped eating before I was full because my blood sugar needed time to rise to a level that was good for me.
Now I feel like a fertility goddess and I have peace.
We need a new way to see women’s bodies. Our bellies give us our incredible feminine power, but if you buy into our dysfunctional antifeminist culture, it can also be our downfall.
For a long time it was mine. I failed a lot in my efforts to lose weight as I got older and went through menopause. Yet there is nothing more beautiful than a perfectly healthy woman with any kind of belly, pregnant, fat or too thin.
I have been all over the place with my weight, at one time I was a size 5 and now I am size large. I just have to accept the fact that my metabolism has affected my weight all the time I have been alive.
I was a chubby in a healthy sort of way kid. Lots of exercise and tree climbing and touch football made me strong and solid.
Most of my life I’ve been full-figured and awesomely strong.
However, during my forties, I became anorexic because I was so stressed after my divorce and stopped eating real food. To get better I had to learn how to accept myself as I am to start eating healthy again.
Big pregnant bellies used to be ultra-feminine and goddesses were created from all kinds and sizes of women.
There is nothing wrong with you, skinny or fat, or just trying to fit in your wedding dress. If you are stressed, you do better actively trying to see yourself with compassion, kindness, and caring.
Big pregnant bellies used to be ultra-feminine and goddesses were created from all kinds and sizes of women.
We should love our bellies at all times of life and try to be something we really need to be which is healthy.
As women we know we are good people. Understanding our unique feminine abilities will empower us to be more expressive and thoughtful in our personal lives.
I took up bellydance during one of the most stressful times of my life. I was a caregiver for my sister who had epilepsy, and never knew when she would have a seizure. It was hard because it sometimes was a 24/7 job. I lost one of my best accounts for my business, sitting with her in an emergency room and lost an account. I had to let it go because I cared about her for many, many reasons.

This made me a much stronger person.
If you want to be healthy it will come from inside of you.
Eat well and enjoy your food: buy lots of fresh produce, eat fruits and veggies every day if you can. Do not deny yourself pleasure: a delicious seasonal feast with friends. Eat home-cooked food you love. Make soup and sensational salads for your meals. Your gut, your belly, and your mind will love you.
Every body is different, same as many plants and animals are different. For some lots of attention and abundant food is what they need, but for others a small amount of healthy food and exercise and keeping hydrated is all that is needed.
